4D was launched last year in partnership with Bennelong Funds Management and is a value-driven, index agnostic manager investing in listed infrastructure companies from around the world.
The Fund consists of a concentrated investment portfolio of 30-60 stocks, and aims to identify quality listed global infrastructure securities, trading at or below fair value with sustainable, growing earnings and dividends. It seeks to take advantage of the best opportunities available in the global infrastructure market, with exposure to both developed and emerging markets.
Sarah Shaw, 4D’s Global Portfolio Manager and Chief Investment Officer, said, “Global infrastructure is a growing asset class with strong historical performance. Having worked in the global listed infrastructure space for over 15 years, I’ve witnessed its evolution into a recognised asset class and have seen a marked increase in demand for infrastructure exposure, as investors search for defensive but growing earnings outside traditional Australian equities.”
As a sector, global listed infrastructure is set for continued growth to 2020 and beyond, as it responds to a mounting need for increased infrastructure investment.
“A chronic under spend on critical infrastructure over the past 30 years ? in virtually every nation ? has created a steep demand to not only stymie the deterioration of infrastructure, but also accommodate the demands of a growing population. What’s more, the emerging middle class, especially in developing economies, continues to demand more and improved infrastructure.“
Government fiscal positions remain fragile post the GFC. Due to these constraints, there has been a rise in private sector involvement in funding the capital demand in infrastructure.
“We see this injection of private funding as an attractive investment opportunity,” said Sarah, “as there is a worldwide necessity to fund an ever expanding infrastructure need.”
The 4D team is lead by three experienced investment professionals Michael Morrison, Chief Executive Officer, Sarah Shaw, Chief Investment Officer and Greg Goodsell, Global Equity Strategist.
